We had our Mission President's
Fireside and we had a really good turn out! From 3 Wards there were probably 50
people there (which included active members, investigators, less-active
members, random strangers, recent converts, etc.) There were short videos
presented, musical numbers, testimonies from recent converts, and a brief
testimony from President Salisbury. The Spirit was felt, tears were shed by
many, and the treats were delicious! President has a vision to be doing
this every month, rotating which buildings they are held in. It was pretty
cool. I was nervous for the solo, but I didn't die.
Dennis got his first copy of
the Ensign and it's got an article about all the Visitor's Centers around the
World for the Church. He's fascinated, and now all he wants to do is work at
one of them as a Senior Missionary/tour guide. He doesn't really care. He just
thinks it's awesome. He really should be our Sunday School teacher.
The Ward also hosted a Family
Discovery Day at the building for the very first time. It was organized and set
up so well, very classy. And they had 3 genealogical societies represented with
booths from the local community. But it was very poorly attended. Which might
have been a good thing, because the kids ate all the cookies. They said they
put advertisements on the radio, in the newspaper, and on Facebook.......but
I'm not so sure about that. We passed out some fliers, but it will be better
next time.
Pam FINALLY got confirmed this
week :) It only took us a month!
Other than that, things are
still moving so very slowly. But it's a new month. Meet the Mormons is on
Netflix! We've been invited over for Family Home Evening tonight to watch it
with our Ward Mission Leader's family! We're bringing the popcorn.
Lots have been asking about my
1 cup phenomenon. It really does work. It might take a few days for your body
to adjust to eating smaller amounts, but it makes me feel so much better. That
is, when I actually do it. It takes planning when you're away from home for
several hours at a time. And then when you have to leave your food in the car
for a few hours, when it's over 100 degrees. It limits your options.......but
it's still good! So some days it just does not work the way I want it to, but
such is missionary life. Life is hard.
I saw an awesome quote at the
Family History Day
Maybe that's the whole meaning
of my life. We all know, it's not a good example! But that's why we write in
journals and keep records. So people can learn from our mistakes, even if
they're really really bad ones.
We were walking around before
heading home for the night and a huge thunder and lightning storm came down. We
got soaked. Please notice, it was the first time that day my armpits were dry.
It's been hot. We've been splurging on popsicles to cool us down.

Best:
1. The kids in this Ward are
so adorable.
2. Popsicles on a hot day.
3. Members taking us out to
ice-cream for 15 minutes on a hot day.
Worst:
1. I'm no longer a small, but not quite a medium in skirts. So it's either
uncomfortably too tight on my gut, or sliding off. I can either get fatter or
skinnier. You have no idea how much I'm leaning towards just getting
fatter......
