Well folks, this week had it's
ups and lows as always. But Church was a miracle!
We got a girl in the Ward
(less-active) addicted to visiting old ladies. Every time she hears about an old lady in the Ward now she looks at us and says, "Lets go visit her!
I'll bring her flowers and some chocolate!" :) The power of service is
real. She's been asking us very serious questions lately and we're doing our
best to help her learn and understand.
Dennis was confirmed yesterday
AND ordained to the office of a Priest! He was glowing and so excited and
happy. As we've been meeting with him this week we're really focusing on the
Book of Mormon and the power behind it. I love the Book of Mormon. So I love
reading it and discussing. We even gave him one and challenged him to share it
with someone :)
Pam has been doing great and
has felt so much PEACE since being baptized. Her life is crazy sometimes, but
she trusts God with a faith I am in wonder over. She wasn't able to make it
Sunday because of illness so she'll be confirmed in 2 weeks because this next
week is Stake Conference...... But it'll be great.
Our new investigator Tammy is
so cool. She's really opening up to us and is very honest about how she feels
about things. It's fun to be teaching and she'll say, "That's exactly what
I believe!" :) Who would've thunk that?!?!?! She was on her way to Church
when her directions got her messed up and she ended up at a different Church 2
cities away. GRRRRRR. I was upset. But it'll all be ok. Everything happens for
a reason. And I know that Heavenly Father will guide and direct her where he
wants her. And I have no doubts that she'll listen.
After Sacrament meeting we
were approached by 2 guys in their 20's who have been visiting the past few
weeks. They're here for work doing home security sales with a large group of
people. We were dummies and just assumed they were all members, cuz why else
would they be here? We're dumb. ALWAYS TALK TO NEW FACES!
One of them has met
with missionaries for quite a while as he travels from place to place for work.
He was supposed to be in Utah for the Summer and was going to be baptized. But
after 2 weeks they shipped him out here to WV! We talked about his life and got
to know him pretty well. And I asked, "So, you want to be baptized."
He looked a little thoughtful then said, "Well, yeah. I guess that's
really the point of all this." So I pulled out my calendar and he picked
June 13th! The weekend after my birthday, the weekend before his! Happy birthday!
It was so cool. All the people here working for the same company are Mormon. So
he's got lots of good influences. It's gonna be awesome.
We met Michelle as we were
trying to see her neighbor. She was walking to her house with her 18 month old
daughter (so flipping adorable). She looked like she wanted to talk to us but
didn't know how. So we chit chatted and set up a time to come back (we were
late for another appointment). We taught her the Restoration and she had a look
of extreme curiosity. Her daughter was distracting, but probably more to me
than Michelle :) She said she would come to Church, but didn't come..... I have
not given up the faith.
Tammy's neighbor started
talking to us one day about her Native American history! So we got all excited
to tell her about a book about her ancestors! The BOOK OF MORMON! Gosh I love
this book. This morning I was reading about Alma geeking out about the cool
things that will happen because of the Book of Mormon and then he goes,
"Sorry. I don't know these things. It's just awesome to speculate.
Something awesome is going to happen." Obviously not in those words
exactly. It really is the coolest thing. When Elder Christofferson was here he
made it very clear that The Book of Mormon is our "sickle", so now in the Scriptures
any time it uses the word sickle I substitute the Book of Mormon. So in
Revelations 15 I believe? Read it and see how cool it is.
We're teaching a lot of women
right now...... I don't think there's a specific reason, it's just interesting
to see that they are all women. Transfers are next week and we'll find out who's
leaving or staying!
Oh we also had Zone Conference
this week! President Salisbury took a photo of the whole Zone and put it on the
Facebook page.
| Not the whole zone :) |
Mother's Day was awesome. I
probably talked longer than I should have, but wow I really needed to. Nothing
emotional, like I'm dying or anything. But about family and how to help
different people.
It is so COOL to learn about your ancestors. Even the bad
stuff. It is so important for me to understand why people are, or were, the way
they are. Because my Great-Grandparents' lives affected every generation til it
trickled down to me. Personality traits, mental issues, family traditions, etc.
It makes me who I am! So I want to know and understand those who made me that
way. All the generations back.
If you've never been on https://familysearch.org/ you need to. Our ancestors are still there. They watch
over us and help us. And they want to progress just as much as we do! Nana sent
me a part of her life story and it was so cool! I loved reading Mom's
journal a few years ago. Perspective is so important. And the more you
know about a person, the more you love them. And everyone needs to be
loved.
And with that, I LOVE YOU ALL!
